About TB Defense

Founded in 2015, TB Defense is a licensed Illinois private investigation and private security contractor agency providing executive protection, corporate security, protective intelligence, and investigative services.

The firm was founded by Michael Basile, a Chicago law enforcement veteran with more than 20 years of investigative and protective intelligence experience. During his career with the Chicago Police Department, Michael served in specialized assignments including the Bureau of Organized Crime, where he worked alongside a federal task force conducting complex investigations involving electronic surveillance, covert operations, and multi-agency enforcement efforts. He was later promoted and assigned as a Homicide Detective, investigating major felony cases across Chicago.

Michael later served in the Chicago Police Department’s Counterterrorism Division at the CPIC (Crime Prevention Information Center), the city’s intelligence fusion center. In that role he conducted protective intelligence investigations and threat assessments involving the Mayor of Chicago and other public officials, identifying and mitigating threats from extremists, stalkers, and other potential threat actors.

Michael currently leads TB Defense while also contributing to the broader security profession as a member of the ASIS Executive Protection Community Steering Committee, working with industry leaders to advance standards and collaboration within the executive protection field.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration and is licensed in Illinois as both a Private Investigator and Private Security Contractor.

Our roster includes a deep bench of vetted professionals with backgrounds in executive protection, SWAT teams, investigative units, dignitary protection details, intelligence operations, and federal task forces. This allows TB Defense to scale quickly and assemble the right team for each assignment while maintaining a consistent standard of professionalism and discretion.

TB Defense agents regularly attend specialized executive protection training programs to ensure their skills remain current and aligned with industry best practices. Our personnel have completed training with respected programs such as LaSorsa & Associates, the Executive Protection Institute (EPI), and other nationally recognized protection schools.

While TB Defense is headquartered in Chicago, the firm maintains national and global network capabilities through trusted security partners and vetted protection professionals. This allows us to support assignments across the United States and internationally when our clients require protection beyond a single city or region.
